The SpectraFlex™ Selective Soldering Platform Offers Non-Contact Soldering Utilizing the Latest Diode Laser Technology

For "In-line" soldering, Metro offers the Selective Soldering Platform in a conveyor equipped workstation that allows for product to enter the work cell (via conveyor) then exit after the process has been completed. Edge carry or full belt support may be used. Process flow is generally left to right, but is dependant upon customer application.

"In-line" work cells come with four axis Cartesian robots, automatic solder feeder, fume extraction plumbing, Adept controls, and vision guidance. A micro-camera and high resolution viewing screen may be added for convenience of set-up and viewing during the soldering process. 30 and 60 watt diode lasers are available depending upon application. Work cells are SMEMA 1.2 compliant.

For batch processing, Metro offers a dual shuttle nest work station that allows operators to load / unload one nest while the other nest is soldering. Both single and four axis Cartesian robots are available in this model. All stations come with automatic solder feeder and fume extraction plumbing. For Adept control versions, vision, micro-camera and high resolution viewing screens may be added. 30 and 60 watt diode lasers are available depending upon application.

Why Selective Soldering?
• Add odd form components after reflow process
• Avoid unnecessary heating of sensitive components
• Add components from the bottom
• Independent control of each joint processed

Why Laser Soldering?
• Low maintenance
• Low input power requirements
• Smaller focused beam size compared to competing technologies
• Extremely high power density
• Laser is precisely controlled and extremely repeatable

Available with a pass through conveyor or a manual load interface.
