PLC Controlled Single Web Cutting Workstation

This single web cutting workstation is a compact, heavy-duty, fully automatic PLC-controlled station capable of producing a user-determined length of web in either automatic or manual mode. The workstation is capable of producing 300 ten foot webs per hour.

In operation, the required web length, output rate, knife temperature, and cutter dwell time can all be individually set from the simplified operator control panel. The workstation feeds and measures a prescribed length of web from a convenient integral web spool container utilizing a closed-loop, encoder-based motor control system. The temperature-controlled carbide hot knife cuts the web to length and the cut ends are subsequently flattened. The workstation can detect splices in the web during operation. Detected splices are cut out and rejected out of the front of the station along the normal web flow path. An end-of-spool detector is provided.

All drive roller, pinch roller and hot knife subassemblies utilized in the single web cutting workstation are designed as modular subassemblies wherein all internal components can be easily accessed for servicing.

Optional equipment includes an exhaust hood and a variety of splice detection alternatives.
